2. Laura Linney

Another well-known Brown University Notable Alumni, Actress Laura Leggett Linney is American. She has won numerous honors, including two Golden Globe Awards four Primetime Emmy Awards, and she was also nominated for three Academy Awards and five Tony Awards.

3. John Krasinski

Another illustrious Brown University Notable Alumni, Actor and director John Burke Krasinski hails from the United States. He is most recognized for playing Jim Halpert in the NBC comedy series The Office. Over the course of the show’s nine seasons, he served as a producer and occasional director.

4. Ted Turner

American businessman, TV producer, media mogul, and philanthropist Robert Edward Turner III. He established the first 24-hour cable news station, Cable News Network (CNN). Additionally, he established WTBS, the first cable television superstation, which later evolved into TBS.

5. Daveed Diggs

An American actor, rapper, and singer-songwriter by the name of Daveed Daniele Diggs. He was the original Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson in the musical Hamilton, for which he earned the 2016 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical. He is also the frontman of the experimental hip-hop duo Clipping. He shared the same year’s Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album with the Hamilton main cast.

6. Tracee Ellis Ross

One of the most well-known Brown University Notable Alumni, Actress Tracee Ellis Ross, whose real name is Tracee Joy Silberstein, originates from the United States. She is well-known for playing the primary characters in the hit television programs Black-ish (2014–2022) and Girlfriends (2000–2008).

7. Leelee Sobieski

Judith Rudabet American artist and former actress Gloria Elsveta “Leelee” Sobieski. She rose to stardom in her adolescent years thanks to parts in movies including The Glass House, Deep Impact, Eyes Wide Shut, Joy Ride, and Eyes Wide Shut. For her depiction of the title role in the TV movie Joan of Arc and for her work in the miniseries Uprising, she garnered nominations for the Emmy and Golden Globe Awards.

8. Andrew Yang

American businessman, lawyer, lobbyist, and politician Andrew Yang. Yang ran for mayor of New York City in the Democratic election in 2021 and ran for president for the 2020 Democratic Party. Together with the former governor of New Jersey, Christine Todd Whitman, he serves as vice-chair of the Forward Party.

9. Julie Bowen

Actress Julie Bowen Luetkemeyer is from the United States. She gained prominence for playing Claire Dunphy in the ABC sitcom Modern Family (2009–2020), during which she received praise from critics and won six Primetime Emmy nominations, winning in 2011 and 2012.

10. Kerry Kennedy

American lawyer, author, and human rights advocate Mary Kerry Kennedy. She is Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel Skakel Kennedy’s third daughter and their seventh child overall. She went by the name Kerry Kennedy-Cuomo from 1990 to 2005, the duration of her 15-year marriage to former New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo. She serves as the association’s president. Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Organization is a nonprofit organization that supports human rights.
