2. Ruth Bader Ginsburg - United States Supreme Court Justice
Ruth Bader Ginsburg is among Cornell University’s most well-known graduates. Justice Ginsburg earned her degree in government from Cornell University in 1954. She continued her education at Columbia Law School after graduating from Harvard Law School, where she eventually earned a top-of-the-class degree. Ginsburg was eventually appointed to the Supreme Court of the United States by President Bill Clinton in 1993 after several years of legal practice, making her the court’s second female justice. She developed a reputation for having progressive and feminist beliefs throughout her career.
3. Michelle Kwan - Olympic Gold Medalist
Another well-known Cornell University Notable Alumni, Michelle Kwan, earned a political science degree in 2001. Kwan is best renowned for her accomplishments in figure skating, where she has won nine World Championships and two Olympic medals. In addition, Kwan represents the group Change The Ref, which she and her husband, Clay Pell, founded to encourage discussion on gun violence.
4. Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft
In 1977, Steve Ballmer earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and economics from Cornell University. After earning his degree, he started working for Procter & Gamble until finally switching to Microsoft, where he eventually rose to the position of chief executive officer in 2000. The business prospered and developed into one of the most lucrative IT companies in the world during his leadership. The Los Angeles Clippers of the NBA are presently owned by Ballmer.
5. Dean Kamen - scientist and entrepreneur
Entrepreneur and scientist Dean Kamen earned an engineering degree from Cornell in 1971. The Segway Human Transporter is Kamen’s most well-known invention, and he also founded several technology firms like FIRST Robotics and Deka Research & Development Corporation. The National Medal of Technology and Innovation and induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame were additional honors bestowed upon Kamen.
6. Jack Dorsey - Co-Founder and CEO of Twitter.

After earning a graduate degree in economics, Engle went on to win the Nobel Prize and the National Medal of Science.
8. Toni Morrison - Pulitzer and Nobel Prize winner
One of the most well-known Cornell University Notable Alumni and Nobel and Pulitzer Prize-winning authors is Toni Morrison. Morrison earned an English degree from Cornell in 1955. Following graduation, Morrison started out as an editor for periodicals like Random House. In 1971, she started writing her own books, and in 1993, she was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature.
9. Goldie Hawn - Academy and Emmy Award-Winning Actress
Another Cornell alumnus who found success in the entertainment sector is Goldie Hawn. Hawn enrolled at Cornell in the late 1960s but left without earning a degree to pursue an acting career, which eventually paid off with a number of accolades and other triumphs. Hawn is best known for her work on the television series Laugh-In and The Arthur Show, for which she received an Emmy, as well as her appearance in the movie Cactus Flower, for which she received an Academy Award.
